Juan Martin del Potro had a strange Friday morning as the 2009 US Open champion was left stunned after several people from his contact list messaged him congratulating him on becoming a father.

Apparently, rumors started to spread in Argentina that the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalistbecame a father for the first time in his life. And some of the 37-year-old's friends fell for it. After realizing what was happening, the former Argentinian tennis star took to social media to declare the news "totally false."

"Today I woke up to several messages congratulating me because I was going to be a dad. I tell you that the news is totally FALSE!!! I don't know that person either, haha. Greetings to all and thanks for the same. Good wishes," the former world No. 3 wrote on X.

Although del Potro won only four of his 20 matches against Djokovic, he still beat the Serb in some big matches - the Argentinian prevented the Serb from winning the bronze medal in their third-place 2012 London Olympics match. "I thought you already had a son and it was Nole," a fan responded to the Argentinian'sX post. The 2009 US Open champion responded with two laughing emojis and added: "That's my bro."

The 37-year-old had love relationships in the past but he has never been married or had any children.
