Carlos Alcaraz has once again made history - this time away from the tennis court. World no. 1 is preparing for the Paris Masters, fine-tuning his game ahead of chasing his ninth ATP title of the season.
The El Palmar native took a break from his training sessions and visited artist Lido Rico's studio in Alcantrarilla to take part in Murcia: Piel y Memoria, a monumental sculptural mural created to celebrate the 1,200the anniversary of the founding of Murcia.
The project blends over a hundred notable Murcians who have shaped the region's cultural, artistic and social identity. With six Major trophies and numerous records, the 22-year-old Alcaraz stands proudly in that group!
From filmmaker Eva Libertad to chef Pablo Gonzalez, their stories and handprints forge a collective tribute to the spirit of Murcia. During his visit, Carlos toured the workshop and observed the intricate details of the seven-meter-long bronze mural.

He then left his handprints and created a powerful symbol of connection between sport, art and local pride. Alcaraz's mark will be permanently integrated into the piece.
That represents his global accomplishments and his deep roots in his hometown. Rico's Piel y Memoria stands as a living narrative of twelve centuries of Murcian history.
Sculptural mural blends past and present through human touch and artistic expression. By adding his own print, Alcaraz joins a lineage of figures who have carried Murcia's famous name to the world - a strong reminder thatgreatness begins at home.
At 22, Carlos has made himself one of the most accomplished players in the previous couple of decades. The Spaniard is the second-youngest player with six Major trophies, trailing only Bjorn Borg.
