Jannik Sinner is off to a flying start at the ATP 500 event in Vienna. The 2023 champion faced Daniel Altmaier in the first round and provided a dominant6-0, 6-2 victory in 58 minutes for his 17th consecutive indoor triumph.

The favorite dominated from start to finish, reducing his rival to 22 points and securing one of his six most comfortable victories in terms of number of games lost.

World no. 2 lost four points in his games and kept the German away from break chances. Altmaier stood miles away from that pace. He gave away 60% of the points in his games and suffered five breaks from six chances offered to Jannik.

Sinner landed 19 winners and seven unforced errors and had complete control from the baseline, forging a 31-7 advantage. Jannik secured a massive lead in the shortest rallies up to four strokes, with a 41-12 advantage.

The Italian drew the German's mistake in the first game of the match for an early break. World no. 2 cemented it with a forehand winner in game two and provided a break at love a few minutes later for 3-0.

The former champion fired a service winner in the fourth game and extended the advantage after only 14 minutes. The favorite cracked a backhand down the line winner in game five for another break and a 5-0 lead.

Sinner served for the opener in game six and held at love to deliver a bagel in 22 minutes. Daniel held after a deuce in the first game of the second set to add his name to the scoreboard.

Jannik leveled the score at 1-1 with an ace and claimed three straight points on the return in the next one to secure a break after the rival's loose backhand. The Italian held at love in the fourthgame with a drop shot winner.

Altmaier wasted another game point in the fifth game and suffered another break to find himself 4-1 behind. Sinner served for the win at 5-2 and landed a forehand winner to emerge over the top and book a place in the second round.
