After leading Italy to back-to-back Davis Cup titles in Malaga, Jannik Sinner has decided to skip this year's Davis Cup Finals at home in Bologna. The 24-year-old turns his focus to the ATP Finals in Turin and a rest.

The four-time Major winner targets another glory run at the Australian Open, seeking his third consecutive Melbourne trophy in January next year. Jannik has been Italy's cornerstone in recent seasons.

He played flawless tennis in the previous two Davis Cup campaigns and provided his country's first titles since mid 1970s. However, he will not seek the third consecutive crown at the most prestigious team competition.

Jannik has opted to use that extra week to recharge batteries following another top-tier season that brought him two Major titles. The San Candido native will try to defend the ATP Finals crown in Turin ahead well-deserved rest.

The decision marks a break for the Italian star, who wants to embrace balanced off-court season in December and get ready for the start of 2026. Before that, world no. 2 will chase titles in Vienna and Turin.

By prioritizing rest and readiness, Jannik aims to begin the new year at full strength and chase another Australian Open title. The Italian will not compete in the weeks before Melbourne.

However, he will embrace an exhibition match against world no. 1, Carlos Alcaraz, in Seoul on January 10. Sinner will likely finish the season behind the Spaniard.

However, he wants to regain the ATP throne in 2026, although he has to defend 2000 ATP points in Melbourne first.

"After the ATP Finals, I will turn my priority to the Australian Open. It may not seem like it, but that additional Davis Cup week can make a difference. I have already won the Davis Cup two times, and that fact added weight to my decision.

I discussed this with my team, and we decided it would be best to skip the Davis Cup Finals," Jannik Sinner said.
