Six Kings Slam attracts enormous attention from the public, who are excitedly following the new edition of this exhibition. Six of the world's best tennis players are currently participating in this tournament, and many are wondering why Daniil Medvedev is not present.
The Russian tennis player has experienced a huge decline in the last two years.
In a conversation with the media, he decided to share all the reasons why he is not performing at this competition.
Daniil still decided to play at the Almaty Open, wanting to transfer his good form from China to the tournament in Kazakhstan. The famous tennis player realized that, falling in the ranking, he probably won't have a place in this tournament.
His main goal now is to win the points he needs to advance in the ATP list and return to the top.
Its actually a bit more complicated. First, as far as I know, its not $1.5 million (1.1m) per player it depends on several factors,- he said, as quoted by Express
Since Ive dropped in the rankings, I understood that I probably wouldnt be invited, because they usually take the top six last year they only made an exception for Rafa [Nadal].
So I entered the tournament in Kazakhstan, and once I commit to something, I follow through.
Maybe there were some discussions elsewhere, but generally, if Ive agreed to play somewhere, I keep my word. Thats why Im here, and I dont regret it. Besides, I need ranking points and real match play, so Ill try to deliver some good tennis.
Daniil Medvedev and indoor courts
Medvedev went on to say how challenging the first tournament after Shanghai is, emphasizing the warm conditions and then the transition to indoor courts. The Russian tennis player believes that the body needs time to get used to it.
While Medvedev still has a chance to make it to the top eight for the final Masters in Turin, it seems that his chances are not very great, which is what he talked about.
The most important thing, according to Daniil, is that he feels good and that he wants to carry that feeling into the first match.
