England's Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, and Scotsman Robert MacIntyre, four of the key players in Europe's triumph at the 2025 Ryder Cup in Farmingdale, New York, will be the most eagerly awaited players at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. This DP World Tour tournament will be played from October 2nd to 5th in Scotland. Featuring a pro-am format for pairs (one professional and one amateur), team and individual rankings, it will be played on three different courses: the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie Golf Links at Carnoustie, and Kingsbarns Golf Links at Kingsbarns.

With Guido Migliozzi, Francesco Laporta, and Andrea Pavan, Italy will be aiming for a hat trick in the so-called "Back 9" event of the top European men's circuit, which offers a $5,000,000 prize pool.

Hatton will defend his title. A star of the LIV Golf, the Arab Super League, in 2024 he distinguished himself as the first player to win the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship three times, also in 2016 and 2017. Fitzpatrick (2023) is also among the past winners. Fleetwood finished second in 2018, while MacIntyre, who has achieved three top-25 finishes, including a 20th-place finish in 2022, is aiming to become the fourth Scot, following Colin Montgomerie in 2005, to win the competition.

Also in the field are other champions such as Americans Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Tony Finau, and Bubba Watson, as well as Australian Cameron Smith. Also in the running are England's Danny Willett (winner in 2021), Ireland's Padraig Harrington (two wins, in 2002 and 2006), Germany's Martin Kaymer (winner in 2010), and South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen. Also in the spotlight are Britain's Harry Hall and Marco Penge, Spain's David Puig, Denmark's Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, and Northern Ireland's Tom McKibbin. A memorable occasion for Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts and Scotsman Marc Warren, both making their 500th appearance on the DP World Tour.

The first event of the circuit's playoffs, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship (November 6-9), featuring the top 70 players (ranked in descending order) of the "Race to Dubai," has just four events remaining. As for the Italians, Laporta, a 34-year-old from Castellana Grotte (Bari), is 54th, ahead of 28-year-old Guido Migliozzi from Vicenza, in 69th place and making a strong improvement after finishing fifth in the recent Open de France. Further back is Andrea Pavan, a 36-year-old from Rome, in 90th place.
