Rey Mysterio is inching closer to a WWE returnand fans might not have to wait much longer to see the lucha legend fly again.
According to a new report from PWInsider Elite on October 1, 2025, Mysterio is expected at the WWE Performance Center this week as part of the final stages of his rehab. The visit is a major step toward getting medically cleared after months on the shelf due to injury.
Mysterio was forced out of WrestleMania 41 earlier this year after suffering a groin tear. What made it worse was how it happenedhe wasnt in the middle of a high-risk move or dangerous bump. It was one small motion that went terribly wrong. The freak injury removed him from a marquee match against El Grande Americano, and Rey Fenix was brought in as a late replacement.
The WWE Hall of Famer also underwent surgery during his time off to repair a long-standing busted eardrum. Hed previously said he was aiming to return by August, but with October now here, his Performance Center visit seems to be a sign that clearance is finally within reach.
Despite decades of high-impact matches and insane dives, Mysterio once revealed that his biggest battle hasnt been his neck or backits been his knees. Years of ACL and meniscus tears led to more wear and tear that contributed to the groin issue earlier this year.
But now, with WWE heading into the fall season, Mysterios return could flip the SmackDown roster upside downespecially with lingering stories from WrestleMania still waiting to be resolved.
Rey Mysterio could be one Performance Center session away from jumping back into the ring. And if history tells us anything, he never comes back just to blend in.
