John Isner doesn't think that we have seen the last of Daniil Medvedev as the former American tennis star is tipping the struggling Russian to rediscover his form during the ongoing Asian swing.

After struggling with his consistency in the first part of 2025, it went from bad to worse for Medvedev in the second part of the year after he started losing very early in tournaments. It all culminated after the US Open first-round exit, when the former world No. 1 decided to fire his long-time coach Gilles Cervara and physio Eric Hernandez.

Last week, Medvedev competed at the ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou, where he won his opening match before shockingly blowing a 7-5 5-3 lead against Wu Yibing and losing the match in three sets. However, at this week's tournament in Beijing, the 2021 US Open champion is off to a positive start after clinching back-to-back straight-set wins over Cameron Norrie and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Isner predicts a Medvedev resurgence on his podcast

"I'm going Medvedev. I'm going to buy him. He likes the hard courts. He likes fast hard courts," Isner said on the Nothing Major Show.

After ousting Davidovich Fokina 6-3 6-3, the current world No. 18 indicated that he felt some of the parts of his game returning.

"Maybe the feeling of the game, the general awareness lacking lately. Im trying to get that back, and thats also why Im happy today. To win many return games, you need to react fast on the return, run faster on the next shot. Everything needs to be better, but its not too bad," the 20-time ATP champion said.

Medvedev may have routinely won his opening two matches in Beijing, but now he is set for a real challenge since he plays next against Alexander Zverev. If the Russian manages to beat world No. 3 Zverev, that would be by far his best win in months and something that could absolutely increase his confidence levels.
