Former doubles world no. 1 Mark Knowles shared his perspective on Novak Djokovic's current form and enduring greatness. The Bahamian believes tennis fans are still witnessing something extraordinary every time the 24-time Major winner steps onto the court.

Mark, however, feels the era of the Serb's ultimate dominance may have passed. The veteran remains capable of producing world-class tennis at 38, and Knowles places his third gear above most of the field.

However, Djokovic's highest peaks might now be out of reach, with the Bahamian not seeing the legend hitting that level again. Novak will try to prove the doubles specialist wrong in 2026, although things are not getting any easier.

Per Knowles, the era of Novak's ultimate dominance may have passed, with the Belgrade native missing a Major title for two years. The veteran embraced a notable season that has kept him in the top-5 at 38.

Djokovic claimed his 100th ATP title in Geneva in May, becoming the third player to achieve that in the Open era after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer. Novak proved his eternal class at Majors two decades after debuting on the most notable stage.

The Serb reached all four semi-finals in 2025, sharing the achievement with Jannik Sinner! However, the 24-time Major winner failed to win any and advance into the title clash, losing to Sinner and Alcaraz three times.

The Italian and the Spaniard have forged a dominant duo, claiming all eight Major titles since the beginning of 2024. Jannik bested Novak in Paris and London, while Carlos ousted him in New York.

Despite those losses, Djokovic's drive and tactical brilliance continue to separate him from almost every other player on Tour, even at his age. His ability to challenge the new generation remains a testament to one of the most complete careers in tennis history.

Whether or not he climbs back to his highest level, the Serb continues to push the limits and add more achievements to his already unmatched tally.

"Obviously, watching Novak play is a pleasure; we are lucky to be still able to see such a spectacle. However, I do not expect any more exploits from him. His third gear is still better than most others.

Unfortunately, I do not think we will see him move up to fifth or sixth," Mark Knowles said.
