Boris Becker confirms he is still very much banned from entering the United Kingdom, but remains hopeful that one day he will return to England and visit his beloved Wimbledon and London.
If you can recall, the German tennis legend - who was just 17 when he lifted his maiden Wimbledon title in 1985 - was found guilty by a British court of hiding assets after declaring bankruptcy. And in 2022 April, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. As a part of his sentence, the former world No. 1 was also banned from entering the United Kingdom for 10 years.
Since Becker was deported to Germany in 2022 December and ultimately released, three Wimbledon editions have taken place. Andthe 57-year-old didn't attend any of those events at The Championships.

"Well first of all I have to be allowed back into the country, because of my deportation I'm not allowed yet. I'm working closely with the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice just to give them enough reasons for me to come back. I love London, I love Wimbledon. I think once I'm allowed back I'm talking then with the responsible people at the tournament but I don't think that's going to be the issue. It's more me being allowed back into the country," the former three-time Wimbledon champion told talkSPORT.
While incarcerated, Becker initially spent some time at Wandsworth Prison before being transported to Huntercombe Prison.
Since being freed, the former six-time Grand Slam champion has very candidly spoken about his time behind prison, often describing it as the worst period of his life, and even claiming that there were times when he feared for his life.

Becker has since returned to his usual analyst work in tennis, and he also had a short stint with Holger Rune in late 2023 and early 2024.
