Carlos secured a break at love in game four for 4-0 and served for the opener at 5-1. He lost his focus for a second and allowed Francisco to pull one break back and extend the battle.
However, Alcaraz clinched his third break of serve at 5-2, wrapping up the opener in style and gaining confidence. The six-time Major champion barely dropped a point on serve in the second set, keeping the pressure on the other side.
Like in the opening set, Cerundolo experienced breaks in games two and four for a massive deficit. The 22-year-old held for 5-0 and made another push on the return in the next one while seeking a bagel.
The Argentine saved three match points and rattled off five points to bring the game home and extend the match. However, everything was over after Carlos' comfortable hold at 5-1, sealing the deal in style and keeping the chances of his team alive.
