Iga Swiatek completed a double-duty in Seoul in an impressive fashion as the Polish tennis superstar dominated Maya Joint 6-0 6-2 in just over an hour of play to reach the final.
On Saturday morning, Swiatek took to the court to face Barbora Krejcikova in a delayed quarterfinal match. And the top seed had no issues against Krejcikova, routing the 2024 Wimbledon champion 6-0 6-3.
A few hours later, the Pole returned to the court, and just as she did against Krejcikova, she bageled Joint in the opening set. In the second set, the top seed lost her serve once, but it wasn't a problem at all since she broke the rising Australian star three times to still very easily get the job done in two sets.
Swiatek's post-match words and her Seoul final rival
Through three matches played in Seoul, Swiatek has dropped only a total of 10 games.
Lets see who I play. But Ill just focus on myself and on the goals that I had before and continue to do what I was doing throughout the tournament, because it's been working. The final is supposed to be the toughest and it always produces a different kind of stress, so Im just happy that Ive already played solid matches here," the 24-year-old said after reaching the final.
After the Pole defeated Joint, No. 2 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova defeated Katerina Siniakova 6-4 6-2 in the remaining semifinal match. That means that the Seoul final will see the two top-seeded players clash against each other.
Heading into the Seoul final, Swiatek leads the head-to-head against Alexandrova 5-2. In their most recent meeting at this year's US Open, the Pole won 6-3 6-1.
