Iga Swiatek's Seoul quarterfinal match has been canceled and pushed for Saturday due to heavy rain falling at the Korea Open.
After defeating Sorana Cirstea 6-3 6-2 in her first-ever match in Seoul on Thursday, Swiatek was slated to return to the court on Friday and take on Barbora Krejcikova. But right from the start of the day, it was clear that another rough day, conditions-wise, would be the case at the Korea Open. And after a couple of persistent rain, the organizers removed the Swiatek and Krejcikova match for Saturday, as well as the Clara Tauson and Maya Joint match.

Swiatek started her Seoul debut with a win and then had a special message for the city
In what was her first match since picking up a US Open quarterfinal exit, Swiatek lost her serve twice against Cirstea but still routinely won the first set after registering four breaks. In the second set, the top-seeded Pole stabilized on her serve and closed out the match with two breaks.
After kicking off her Korea Open campaign with a win, Swiatek recalled how her father Tomasz - a former rower - competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
"The Olympics in 1988 were the highlight of his career, and he's been telling us stories about it since me and my sister were kids. So I'm happy to explore this city -- he's been talking about being here as a great adventure. I play a different sport, but still we're at the Olympic venue and I'm surprised by how the whole city is still appreciating the Olympic tradition. It's great, because this event is the best the world has in any area. Playing here for sure is an honor, and maybe next year my dad will come!" Swiatek said.
