Paula Badosa is looking forward to making a comeback at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals as the Spanish tennis star says there can be a feeling of "loneliness" when returning from an injury and that's why she is happy to play her first tournament back in a team atmosphere.

After losing to Katie Boulter in the Wimbledon first round on June 30th, Badosa had to withdraw from the entire North American hard-court swing due to a persistent back issue. Two and a half months later, the Spaniard - who plummeted to No. 20 in the world in recent weeks after being unable to defend her points during the summer - is ready to play again and represent Spain when they take on Ukraine on Wednesday in Shenzhen.

Besides Badosa, the Spanish team also features Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, Cristina Bucsa, Leyre Romero Gormaz and Aliona Bolsova.

It helps to come and play as a team. Coming back from injury, sometimes you feel a little alone, you have ups and downs," the 27-year-old said, via Marca.

Badosa admits 'a tough' period is behind her

Since picking up a back injury in mid-2023 and having it diagnosed as a chronic issue last year, the four-time WTA champion has been doing her best to manage her injury as well as possible. But unfortunately, there are periods when it flares up and sidelines the Spaniard.

Its been a tough couple of months, although of course, I feel a little better every day. Its never easy coming back from an injury, but I feel great with my teammates. I think in this type of competition, its very important to have this good atmosphere, this good team spirit," Badosa noted.

The Spanish tennis player started the year by making her maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open. But she has been limited since then and only owns a 17-11 record in 2025.

It remains to be seen how will Badosa look when she takes to the court for the first time in nearly three months.
