Ricochet made his AEW debut back at All In 2024 and since then he has truly reinvented himself in a big way. Interestingly enough, it seems AEW had different plans for him once he debuted.

While speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Ricochet revealed that when he first came to AEW, the idea was not just to have great matches but also to change his character over time. The long-term plan was always for him to turn heel. In fact, there were early discussions about putting him with another group, and a different path for his character was mapped out before he even debuted.

However, things didnt go as originally planned because they went even better. Ricochets singles run quickly got momentum and connected strongly with fans, so AEW decided to keep him as a solo act instead of changing directions. Despite the initial blueprint for a heel turn, the success of his early run changed everything.

Ricochet said that in wrestling, some things are planned, but sometimes you have to adjust when something is working well. His strong performances and big moments made AEW change course, turning what was supposed to be a heel turn into a successful singles run that showed off his talent and star power.

Ricochet is currently leading a faction with Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun and its clearly working great for him. Nonetheless, things clearly worked out for Ricochet in the end and fans wouldnt have wanted it any other way.

Would you have preferred to see Ricochet turn heel early on, or is his singles run the best move AEW could have made? Sound off in the comments.
