Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have added another milestone to their growing rivalry and dominance of men's tennis in the previous two seasons. The two great rivals met in their third straight Major final in New York.
Carlos secured a victory in four sets and took the ATP throne from his greatest opponent. In addition, the Spaniard passed the 10,000-point mark for the first time in a career following a brilliant streak since April.
Sinner was already there, and they now stand at the top of ATP ranking list with over 10,000 points for each. Thus, they joined one of the most exclusive clubs in our sport.
Since the introduction of the current ranking system in 2009, only a handful of pairs have managed this feat. The first came that same year, with, you guess, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Thus, they confirmed the domination over the rest of the field and set the tone for the an era on unmatched supremacy. Nadal and Federer then carried that standard, before Djokovic joined the action and shared the stage with Rafa, Roger, Andy Murray and later Daniil Medvedev.

The Serb was a part of those exclusive pairs between 2009 and 2022, showcasing his incredible consistency and resilience. Djokovic and Medvedev were the most recent duo with over 10,000 ATP points, staying there for 17 weeks between 2021 and 2022.
Now, Alcaraz and Sinner have taken up that mantle, with 11,540 points for the Spaniard and 10,780 points for the Italian. All of their rivals are miles behind, with no one matching their consistency.
Their rise signals consistency and a balance of power reminiscent of the sport's golden era. The foundation of their domination is clearly in place, with the two young guns sharing the previous eight Majors and preparing for more in 2026.
Will they keep the streak active until the end of the season? It remains to be seen, but they are the favorites to meet in the final of every event they enter together.
