Rey Mysterios road to recovery might be hitting its final stretch. After being forced out of WrestleMania 41 with a groin tear, the WWE legend is reportedly close to returning to the ringand it could happen a lot sooner than fans expected.
According to PWInsider Elite, Mysterio is set to be at the WWE Performance Center next week as part of the final steps in his rehab. The visit marks a major milestone in his recovery process and could signal that a return to SmackDown is right around the corner.
The former World Champion had been sidelined since April after tearing his groin just before WrestleMania 41. The injury didnt happen during a wild bump or risky moveit was the result of a small, routine motion gone wrong. That last-minute setback took him out of his scheduled match with El Grande Americano, with Rey Fenix stepping in as a surprise replacement.
During his recovery, Mysterio also had surgery to repair a long-term issue with a busted eardrum. Hes been undergoing physical therapy and previously stated he hoped to be back by August. While that timeline stretched slightly, this new update confirms hes inching closer to being medically cleared.
After decades of high-flying action, Mysterio says its not his back or neck thats caused the biggest issuesits his knees. With over a dozen ACL and meniscus tears throughout his career, the wear and tear eventually affected his groin and slowed his momentum this year. But now, it looks like hes ready to fly again.
