The Spaniard has reached the final at the previous eight tournaments, lifting six titles and dominating the ATP Race ahead of Jannik Sinner. At 22 years and four months, Carlos became the second youngest player with six Major titles, trailing only Bjorn Borg.
Alcaraz provided stellar performance at Flushing Meadows. He got broken three times in 22 sets and almost won the title without losing a set, with only Sinner taking away one set from him in the title clash.
The two great rivals battled in their third straight Major final in new York, and the younger player delivered a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory in two hours and 42 minutes.
Carlos served well and got broken once from the only chance offered to Jannik. The Italian could not follow that pace, suffering five breaks and failing to become the first defending champion in New York since Roger Federer.
