Ilja Dragunov suffered an ACL injuryduring a match against GUNTHER back in September 2024, but his return is on the horizon. While speculation about his return continues, it seems WWE is considering a huge feud for Dragunov.
According to BodySlam.net, WWE has been internally discussing a potential program between Ilja Dragunov and Rusev on television in the near future. Although nothing has been confirmed, the idea is being considered as a way to bring Dragunov back to TV.
This comes after we had reported that The Mad Dragon was discussed last month and the time for his return was drawing near. Considering the hard-hitting nature of Dragunov, many fans actually feel someone like Rusev would be a great way to reintroduce The Mad Dragon on WWE television.
If WWE goes through with Ilja Dragunov vs. Rusev, fans can expect one of the hardest-hitting rivalries on WWE television. After a year away, Dragunovs return will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated returns of 2025 and so well have to see how it will turn out.
