Rajeev Ram, 41, says he "does not think that Mardy Fish is OK," and confirms he hasn't spoken with the former American Davis Cup team captain since their 2022 drama.
In 2022, Fish - who was the US Davis Cup team captain at the time - made an extremely bold move by leaving Ram out of the team. At the time, the American doubles specialist was the world No. 1 in the doubles category and the decision not to nominate him didn't really seem logical. And after the US lost in the Davis Cup quarterfinal following a defeat in the deciding doubles match, the 41-year-old threw a subtle shade at the captain by cheekily asking on X how everyone's Thanksgiving was going.

At this year's US Open, Jannik Sinner had to withdraw from the mixed doubles event. That left Katerina Siniakova without a doubles partner. And after tennis insider Jon Wertheim suggested that Ram should be Sinner's replacement, Fish threw a stunning shade at the former doubles world No. 1 by writing: "How bout another actual tennis player."

I mean, I hope hes OK. I dont think hes OK, if hes doing that kind of thing, but I hope he finds a way to get better from that. Hes actually somebody I looked up to for a really long time. Hes a couple years older than me... He had a great career, was a Top 10 player, was our Davis Cup captain for a while. We havent spoken to each other in three years, since Summer or fall of 2022," Ram said on The Changeover Podcast.
I dont really have much more to say, other than its a super strange thing. Its not something that shows hes doing that well... He must be in a pretty tough spot if hes resorting to doing that stuff."

Fish has his own Netflix documentary, where he candidly opened up about his battle with anxiety and panic attacks.
On the same podcast, Ram said he was surprised that someone so open about mental health would be doing stuff that the former US Davis Cup team captain does.
