Sergio Garcia, a well-known face on the golf scene, will not play at this year's Ryder Cup. The 45-year-old, who has an incredible record when it comes to this prestigious competition, did not make the list of Luke Donald, the captain of the European team.

Garcia shared his frustrations after Donald's list, believing that perhaps he deserved a chance, but his form this season was not ideal, so it was hard to expect him to gain the European captain's trust.

Sergio pointed out that he will support the team from home, hoping that they can make a big step; to win the Ryder Cup on away soil.

"The call with Luke (Donald) was fine but not the call I wanted, obviously," Garcia said. "Now, the only thing I can do is support the team from home. It's as simple as that. I'll be watching and cheering on the European team."- Garcia continued, as quoted by Golf Magic.

Sergio Garcia: I felt like I was so looking forward to being a part of that team

While he hoped that eventually Luke could take into account his experience and importance, the captain of the Europeans had completely different views on this tournament, giving a chance to the players who were really dominant this year.

The Spanish golfer was ready to give his best, make the team's job easier, and be the foundation of this team.

However, this is a message for all golfers that regardless of your experience and prestige, if you are not in great shape, the invitation will be missed.

"I felt like I was so looking forward to being a part of that team," he said.

"And so I felt like mentally, you know, mentally it was kind of tough. "I didn't want to go there and not be fully engaged in the tournament and stuff, so I just decided to take a little bit of time off and spend it with the family and do a couple of things, you know, some things outside of golf and just kind of reboot a little bit, recharge the batteries."
