As was expected, Gilles Cervara ended his collaboration with Daniil Medvedev following the US Open. The Russian had been working with Cervara for eight years, achieving all of his successes under his guidance.

However, following his most recent outburst and the lack of trophies for over two years, Gilles decided to step aside and allow his pupil and a good friend to find a new impulse and return his career to the right course.

Initially, alongside Cervara, Medvedevworked with Julien JeanpierreJean-ReneLisnard. However, the Russiandecided to train with Cervara alone since the fall of 2017. The result?A Major crown and six Masters 1000 trophies!

They had ups and downs during these eight years, but they managed to find solutions and continue together. However, the time is right for both to seek new challenges.

Daniil and Gilles lifted three ATP titles in 2018 and backed them with four a year later, including two at a Masters 1000 level. Medvedev wrapped up the 2020 season on a high note and claimed his only Major crown at the US Open a year later.

The Russian became world no. 1 in February 2022, collecting 16 weeks on the ATP throne. Daniil was on a good course to regain it in 2023 after winning five titles from six finals in the opening five months.

However, Medvedev has not won an ATP title since Rome that year, losing the next six finals, including two at Majors. Daniil's only final of 2025 came in Halle, and he will have to chase more trophies with someone else in his coaching box.

"Daniil, our fantastic eight-season adventure together comes to an end. Like a symbolic wink of life, it's after this US Open tournament that we end our collaboration.

I am grateful and happy for all the great things and wonderful experiences we were able to experience together on the court during these eight years. It will remain etched in my memory forever. I thank you for placing your trust in me.

I gave EVERYTHING, every second, for our shared goals. I loved training you, coaching you, supporting you (even when it was difficult), and finding solutions with you and the team to help you perform.

I will keep in mind your unconventional magic as a player, which is your strength. It will return, I'm sure. I wish you all the success you aspire to as a player in the future. And a happy life as a man.

The road continues, work and performance call to each of us... and, I wish us both success," Gilles Cervara wrote.
