Andy Roddick says he witnessed Carlos Alcaraz "having time for every conversation," and the American tennis legend believes that's one of the big things that makes the 22-year-old so likable in the locker room.

Since introducing himself to the tennis world In 2022, Alcaraz has achieved major success at a very young age, winning five Grand Slams so far and having been ranked at the world No. 1 spot multiple times. However, it's not only the Spaniard's success that made him so popular - but it's also his smile and charisma. On the court, the current world No. 2 is usually smiling and looking positive.

When Alcaraz's colleagues are asked about the reigning French Open champion, they often describe him as one of the most likable players in the locker room. Roddick, who is currently at the US Open and covering the final Grand Slam of the year, has a pretty good idea why that's the case.

Roddick: Alcaraz was walking, talking to everyone...

"I'll tell you the little things, like I'm walking from 30 feet away to exit to go to where you get transportation yesterday. He's walking in, talking to everyone, everyone running the security gates and walking in. He literally has time for every conversation on the way. And it's not put on. It's just the way he is," the American former world No. 1 said on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast.

"I wasn't one to want to small talk when I was going to work. I just wasn't. But the game's better. Every single person that comes across him, no matter what their job is at the US Open, goes, 'You know what? I really like that guy.' He just has an easy smile. He's just easy to be around."
