Nearly three years later, the infamous practice altercation between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole continues to cast a shadow over the Warriors.
This week, a viral post on social media reignited the conversation with new claims about what was said before the fight.
The story alleged that head coach Steve Kerr encouraged Poole to stand up for himself after being challenged by Green in training camp. It further claimed that Poole fired back at Green by saying, youre an expensive backpack for 30, a direct reference to Stephen Curry. According to the rumor, that remark set off Green, who then punched Poole, an incident that was later leaked on video.
Green responded directly to the speculation on Threads, posting six cap emojis.

The veteran forward has addressed the incident in the past, publicly apologizing to Poole and acknowledging the fallout it created for the team.
Poole had a breakout 2021-22 season, averaging 17 points, 3.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from three and 91.5 percent from the free-throw line.
His scoring ability helped the Warriors capture the 2022 championship, but the fight changed his trajectory. The following year, his efficiency dipped, his role diminished, and Golden States chemistry never fully recovered.
Poole was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2023, while Green remained with the Warriors.
The team has since retooled around Curry, Green, and Jimmy Butler, but long-term depth remains a concern.
