Jamie Hayters explosive return at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door brought Londons O2 Arena to its feetbut now were learning it nearly didnt happen when it did.

According to Fightful Select, Hayters comeback came a little later than AEW had hoped, due to a hidden injury she suffered during the closing moments of her AEW Double or Nothing match against Mercedes Mon. At the time, Hayter appeared fine and even told reporters she was okay. But backstage, it became clear she wasnt.

She was later pulled from in-ring action and wasnt cleared for further contact. AEW accelerated Theklas debut to fill the void. As it turns out, there werent even solid plans in place for Thekla to show up until Hayters injury forced AEWs hand.

Despite being sidelined, Hayter played a crucial role in getting Thekla over. Hayter gained praise for working through a smoke and mirrors spot while not cleared, helping launch the newcomers AEW run behind the scenes. The long-term plan was always for Hayter and Thekla to feudand now, with Hayter cleared and back, that storyline is finally ready to kick off.
