Swerve Strickland will be out for a bit.
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door went down at the O2 Arena in London. The AEW Unified Championship was quite a match on the card, and it featured two competitors in the prime of their careers.
Kazuchika Okada put his Unified Championship on the line against Swerve Strickland at Forbidden Door. This is a dream match for many, and both sides brought their A-game to the O2 Arena.
Jim Ross joined the commentary table for this match, which made it so much more special. Okada had Don Callis by his side for this match as well, and it had a big fight feel.
This was an evenly matched contest and things went to the outside eventually. Okada nailed a DDT on the ring steps, which took Swerve out. Prince Nana cheered him on at ringside, but it didnt do much after that move.
This match saw both competitors take each other to the limit. Okada kicked out after a Swerve Stomp. After trying for a House Call, Okada ducked to nail a Rainmaker to win the match and retain his title. After the match was over, Okada continued his assault on Swerve as he beat the former AEW World Champion down. He wrapped a steel chair around his knee, and then Swerve was attacked by Wardlow. This writes Swerve out of the picture as it was reported that he will be out of action.
We will have to see what is next for Swerve and Okada in AEW. Tony Khan certainly forked over a ton of money to keep them around, and they are certainly making things worth his money.
