Will Ospreay showed up and showed out at AEW All In, but it nearly didnt happen.
According to Fightful Select, there were people within AEWincluding talentwho were actually hopeful that Will Ospreay wouldnt end up wrestling at Forbidden Door. Thats because of ongoing concerns about his neck. Ospreay was told by his surgeon that the issue needs to be taken care of, though it wasnt getting worse, as noted by Sports Illustrated.
While Ospreay hasnt flat-out confirmed that surgery is scheduled, hes strongly hinted at it. AEW talent close to the situation expect him to be off TV for some time after Sundays Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Hes made it clear to those in the company that working Forbidden Door was important to him.
Ospreay apparently went into AEW All In knowing time off was coming, which caused AEW to change several post-show plans. He hadnt even started rehab until after All In, leaving officials unsure how long hed be out.
His emotional speech on Dynamite after All In was also a late addition. AEW sources say it was thrown together because several wrestlers werent cleared that night, and the show needed adjustments. Despite what was said during that segment, Ospreay is cleared to compete in the match.
For now, Ospreay is pushing forward, but the reality is his future could change fast if that neck issue forces him out of action. Fans will get to see him shine on the big stage, but the question hanging over AEW is how long before surgery sidelines him and shifts the companys plans yet again.
Ospreays health and future in AEW remain a big question, especially with top-level storylines potentially impacted.
