The new footage opens with visuals of naked bodies sprawled across Peacemakers home as he casually explains the situation to his best friend, Adrian Chase, a.k.a. Vigilante. Cenas character deadpans: You dont even seem that into sex.
Vigilante fires back with a bizarre but loyal explanation: Im into sex because, like a lot of people, its an opportunity to bond with my best friend.
That chaotic energy is clearly going to be a recurring theme this season. While promoting the show, James Gunn and Cena played a word association game that got just as wild. Gunn posed a twisted scenario involving a deadly alien and a date: Alright, you can stop an alien invasion, but youd have to eliminate one of these: A) an alien intruder disguised as a bald eagle; or B) your Tinder date for the night.
Cena didnt flinch before channeling Peacemakers dating habits: I dont think he would eliminate a bald eagle, and if hehad to eliminate a Tinder date, he would just go to Grindr and find another date. The great thing about Peacemaker is that all apps are welcome, all the time.
In true Peacemaker fashion, the trailer was so wild that YouTube slapped an age restriction on the redband version. Fans attempting to watch the video are met with a content warning, requiring them to sign in and confirm their age. Its no surprise considering the full-frontal chaos shown in just the first few seconds.
With wild sex parties, absurd loyalty, and zero filter, Peacemaker season two is keeping the same unhinged tone fans loved from the first season. The new season premieres August 21 on HBO Max.
