Caitlin Clark has been sidelined since July 15 with a groin injury, and while the Indiana Fever continue to provide updates on her recovery, Skip Bayless believes there may be more going on than what the league is saying.

Clark, a two-time WNBA All-Star and the number one overall pick in the 2024 Draft, has missed 19 games this season.

Fever head coach Stephanie White explained her current progress earlier this week.

No return to practice, shes been able to get a little bit more of her full-court running with all of her body weight, White said after practice. Its really building up from doing minimal to building some endurance to do longer periods of time. Shes been able to do a little more on the court in terms of how she moves, but not into practice shape.

The injury came in the closing seconds of an 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun. Despite Indiana finding ways to compete without their star guard, Clarks absence is still a major loss for both the team and the league.

But Bayless believes fans are not getting the full picture.

Is it possible that this time, she tore her groin so badly that shes already been privately ruled out for the rest of the season, yet the league wants to keep the media and the fans in the dark about this so that people keep tuning in, figuring, Oh, shell be back soon, Bayless suggested. Is that whats going on? Maybe.

For now, the Fever and the WNBA are sticking with their timeline, but Bayless has made it clear he doesnt buy into the official narrative surrounding Clarks recovery.
