Rennae Stubbs has a pretty good idea about what Daniil Medvedev should do as the former six-time Grand Slam champion is advising the struggling Russian to reach out to Goran Ivanisevic and make him his new coach.

After picking up a couple of surprising losses this summer - including a Wimbledon first-round defeat - the former world No. 1 went through another disappointment at the Cincinnati Masters after he was bounced by 85th-ranked Adam Walton 6-7 (0) 6-4 6-1 in his opening match.

While Medvedev may have hit rock bottom lately, it is not a secret that he has struggled for quite some time with his game, and not winning a title since 2023 May is the stat that tells you everything you need to know about the 29-year-old's state.

To no one's surprise, some are calling for the 2021 US Open champion to ditch his long-time coach Gilles Cervara. On the latest episode of her coach, Stubbs didn't call for Cervara to be fired, but suggested that adding a second coach - and a big name like Ivanisevic - could be exactly what the doctor ordered for the current world No. 15.

Stubbs explains why Medvedev hiring Ivanisevic could be the game-changer

I dont know! A sabbatical or a coaching change, and I love his coach. I love him. And they have been together a long, long time and achieved a lot together, but maybe its a Goran Ivanisevic who is floating around. The Tsitsipas thing didnt work out, the Rybakina thing didnt work out. Maybe its a volatile personality who has also worked with some great players. Maybe someone like that could come in and give him a new, fresh look. Its not because his current coach cant do it, but sometimes you need a new outlook," the Australian doubles legend said on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.

So far this year, Ivanisevic has had two failed stints. First, he worked with Rybakina for only two tournaments during January. His partnership with Tsitsipas didn't go any better since they were also a team for only two tournaments.
