Novak Djokovic has decided to skip both Masters 1000 that precede the US Open, scheduled in New York from August 24 to September 7. The former world No.1 who hasn't played an official match since the Wimbledon Championships semi-final against Jannik Sinner is enjoying his holidays with his family and friends and doesn't seem to be in a particular hurry to get back to practice.

The Serbian legend has not fulfilled his goal of clinching the 25th Major title of his never-ending career for now, although he has reached the semifinals in all three Grand Slam tournaments played in 2025. The 38-year-old from Belgrade still has the ability to raise his level suddenly in the most prestigious events on the calendar, but currently he lacks something to be able to beat young champions such as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in best-of-five set matches.

Nole's main problem is that time is not on his side and the chances of becoming the oldest ever to win a Major are less and less, although he has repeatedly reiterated his intention to continue competing for as long as possible.

Nole fined again

Meanwhile, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has been fined again by the municipality of Marbella due to the illegal work carried out in his home, which is located in the Sierra Blanca area. This is the third fine that has been imposed on the former world number 1 for a total of 15,000 euros.

From February 2024 to date, the Marbella city council has repeatedly asked Novak and his wife Jelena to regularize these construction works or to demolish areas that do not comply with the regulations, but these requirements have not been met yet. The Serbian veteran recently submitted two documents, through which he expressed his desire to comply with the regulations, but this has not happened yet and the third fine was inevitable.
