Scottie Scheffler looked solid on the first day of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, shooting a 67, which marked 3-under par (-3).

The world No. 1 started strong, finishing the front nine at 2-under par (-2), thanks in large part to birdies on holes 2 and 3.

In a press conference, the 29-year-old reflected on his performance, offering some interesting comments about the first day, while also reacting to reporters' comments that he was solid.

While Scottie felt he could have been a much more dominant in a tournament like this, he seemed to lack focus at times.

However, a golfer of his caliber always finds a way to improve on the second day.

"Yeah, I guess good for y'all. Y'all don't have to hit it. It's easy to watch it and see -- it's easy to tell me where to hit it. It's a lot harder to actually do it.

Today was a good day. I did some solid stuff. Felt like I was close to playing a really great round but ended up with a solid round. Overall a decent start."- Scottie Scheffler said.

Scheffler is known for avoiding bogeys, and that seems to be an important characteristic of his game. When asked by a reporter if it's a mental thing, an execution , or both, Scheffler emphasized execution.

The famous golfer revealed his mindset on the golf course, emphasizing how missing fairways can affect his game and bogeys.

"It has a lot to do with execution. It's easy to say, try to hit fairways, try to hit greens. It's just way harder to do it. It's way harder to hit a lot of fairways and hit a lot of greens. I think everybody always intends to do that when they go out there, and it's one of those things that's a lot easier said than done.

When I'm executing and hitting fairways, it's a lot easier to avoid bogeys, but when you start missing fairways out here, bogeys are going to come pretty quick."- he said.

What can we expect?

Fans expect the American to be just as dominant on the second day, showcasing his talent and skill.

There's no doubt that Scottie could make a big step forward today; a scene we've witnessed many times this season.
