Jake Hager parted ways with AEW back in May 2024, bringing an end to his nearly five-year tenure with the company. More than a year after his exit, Hager has finally revealed why he left AEW in the first place.

While speaking to Saraya on the Rulebreakers podcast, Jake Hager was asked why he ended up leaving AEW. Jake Hager revealed that he left AEW because he felt disrespected during contract negotiations.

Hager said he made a counteroffer, and when AEW responded with their own offer, it upset him enough that he decided it was time to move on and look for opportunities elsewhere.

This comes after Jake Hager previously claimed that Tony Khan didnt want him in AEW and it was Chris Jericho who went to bat for him. It didnt help that Jake Hager even accused Tony Khan of being a communist and threatening his job over his political stance.

Regardless, we will have to wait and see what the future holds for the former AEW star, as its really clear that he wont be coming back to Tony Khans company ever again.
