The Atlanta Hawks front office might want to take action if they dont want to lose their star player, Trae Young.
Young isnt exactly hiding how he feels about his contract situation.
The Hawks star is disappointed he hasnt been offered an extension yet, according to ESPNs Marc Spears.
What Im hearing now, at this pointand you can tell by Traes tweet, and I saw him during the FinalsI think hes disappointed that it hasnt come, it hasnt been offered, Spears said Tuesday on NBA Today. So dont be surprised at this point if he plays this out, and sees what happens next summer.
Young is eligible to sign a four-year, $229 million extension right now. Hes under contract through 2025-26, with a player option for 2026-27, but his patience seems to be wearing thin.
In July, Young posted an hourglass emoji on X (formerly Twitter)a not-so-subtle nod to the waiting game.
Then came this, in response to Micah Parsons contract standoff with Jerry Jones.
This why you pay the man early, when someone will take less early to stay in a place he wanted to be forever, you do it the price only goes up now!

Thats about as clear as it gets.
Young just led the league in assists (11.6 per game) while averaging 24.2 points and 3.1 rebounds. Hes not only producinghes made it known he wants to stay. But according to ESPNs Shams Charania, other teams are already closely watching and monitoring how this plays out.
The new CBA rules and tax aprons seem to be getting in the way a little more than they used to be, thats for sure.
The team cant be surprised if Young tries to take his talents elsewhere.
