
Former finalist Nick Kyrgios will not compete at the Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati. The Aussie made the entry list with a protected ranking but decided to withdraw and extend his break from tennis.
Nick has not played since Miami in March, earning his only win of the season in Florida against Mackenzie McDonald before falling to Karen Khachanov. That remains the most recent singles match for Kyrgios, and it's very likely that we will not see him at the US Open.
Nick is the tenth player who had to withdraw from Cincinnati, joining Novak Djokovic, Jack Draper and Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian halted the Aussie in the 2017 Cincinnati final.

Kyrgios played only one match between October 2022 and the start of 2025, struggling with numerous physical issues and undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in January 2023.
Three years ago, Nick took the opening set against Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final before finishing as therunner-up. The Aussie lifted a trophy at the ATP 500 event in Washington and wished to wrap up the season ona high note.
However, he had to end the season after withdrawing in Tokyo. Kyrgios experienced many setbacks and finished 2023 with one match on his tally in Stuttgart following that surgery.

Like itwas not enough, the Aussie experienced a full rapture of the scapholunateligament in his right wrist. He started from the beginning and hit with junior balls to recoversense.
Nick did not give us. He started the 2025 season from Brisbane and fought well against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Frenchman prevailed in three tie breaks, and the home favorite felt pain in his troubled wrist.
He entered the Australian Open without confidence but showed full respect to the crowd. Unwilling to retire at the home Major, Nick gave everything in a 7-6, 6-3, 7-6 defeat to Jacob Fearnley.
Kyrgios admitted it could be his final Australian Open match following a string of setbacks. Another waited around the corner.The Aussie suffering an injury during preparations for Indian Wells, leaving the practice court before the end of his training session.

He retired in the first round against Botic van de Zandschulp and moved to Miami. The former Major finalist defeated Mackenzie McDonald in three sets for his first ATP win since October 2022!
However, the Aussie fell 7-6, 6-0 to Karen Khachanov in the second round, having nothing left in his tank in the second set. That remains Kyrgios' most recent match, and it's really hard to expect him enter the US Open.
