
The mystery around Seth Rollins shocking Money in the Bank cash-in at SummerSlam 2025 has been peeled back and it turns out WWE kept the entire thing under extreme lock and key.
According to Fightful Select, Rollins supposed knee injury against LA Knight a few weeks ago was the spark for a master plan that very few people knew about. Backstage sources revealed that in that match, which was always booked for Rollins to win, the abrupt ending was designed to sell the injury. When he returned to the back, even some of his closest contacts were left worried because they didnt hear from him right away.
The following night, Rollins showed up at WWE Evolution on crutches a deliberate move WWE knew would leak out to the public. The day after, rumblings began when a report surfaced that an injury angle was planned at Saturday Nights Main Event, which Some sources still werent sure if it was a total work or a cover for a smaller injury, but those who usually talk went completely silent.
By the time Rollins appeared on The Rich Eisen Show, belief within the company had shifted heavily toward it being a work. However, multiple producers and talent stressed that they were never directly told the truth they just assumed something was up. The actual cash-in plan had been on the table since before Saturday Nights Main Event, but it was absent from internal rundowns.
Even on the afternoon of SummerSlam, staff were told not to expect a cash-in. That was later updated to not expecting a cash-in, but the real plan only clicked into place for many during CM Punk vs. GUNTHER, when Rollins emerged and the pieces finally came together.
