MJF is back on top this time in Mexico.

The AEW star captured the CMLL Light Heavyweight Championship at the CMLL Viernes Espectacular event on August 1, 2025, inside the legendary Arena Mexico in Mexico City, ending Avernos dominant year-long run with the gold.

The finish came when MJF landed a low blow out of the referees sight before locking in a single-leg Boston Crab, forcing the champion to tap out. With that, the self-proclaimed American Hero walked away with the title.

The celebration didnt last long. Zandokan Jr. stepped into the ring after the match and issued a challenge, which MJF immediately accepted. The two will clash for the title at CMLLs upcoming special event on August 15, 2025.
