Leylah Fernandez reveals she has found herself a date but also adds that they might have to push it back a bit than initially planned simply because she will arrive in Montreal later than she expected.
In case you forgot, the 22-year-old posted a video on Instagram just before starting her Washington run. In the footage, the Canadian tennis star confessed to never being on a date - said she wanted to experience it during the Montreal tournament - and invited interested individuals to reach out to her.
A week later, Fernandez ended up winning the WTA 500 tournament in Washington and collecting her fourth WTA title after routing Anna Kalinskaya 6-1 6-2 in the final. However, she won't have much time to celebrate her triumph as the world No. 24 is already slated to play Maya Joint in the Canadian Openfirst round on Tuesday.

Fernandez indicates her first date will probably happen after she concludes her Montreal run
"Honestly, I told my date that we might have to push it back a little bit because I'm still in DC. So, hopefully, maybe at the end of Montreal, I get to have that date finally, but we've been talking and keeping in touch to hopefully schedule it at the end of Montreal before going to Cincy," the Canadian said, when asked in Washington to reveal whether she found someone to go on a date with.
A few days earlier, Fernandez funnily told potential dates that there was no reason to be afraid of her dad or think that he was "unwelcoming."
"I mean, I think, one, a lot of people think I'm very focused in tennis, and I am. I am very focused in tennis. Sometimes they think, 'Okay, I can't approach her and ask her out,' and it doesn't help that also my dad doesn't look that welcoming. He's very welcoming. Don't get me wrong," the 22-year-old explained.

Fernandez will certainly hope to keep her current winning streak going and also make a strong Montreal run, even if that means further delaying her date.
