Many fans feel that WWE has been overly reliant on celebrities lately, which is why the company has now been criticized for being obsessed with getting street cred by using celebrities.
While speaking on the Stevie Richards Show, James Romero criticized WWE for chasing clout by bringing in celebrities without properly testing if theyll actually connect with the audience.
Romero pointed out that for years, especially with segments like Celebrity Raw and now under the TKO umbrella, WWE has been overly focused on gaining street credibility. According to him, this obsession leads the company to give a lot of TV time to people like Travis Scott without knowing whether it will really work.
This comes after we previously reported that Travis Scottsfuture in WWE is in jeopardyafterbackstage frustration over his commitment issues continued to grow. Even Drew McIntyre blasted Travis Scott for ruining the main event of WrestleMania 41 and WWE has clearly distanced itself from the rapper.
Many fans have been saying that WWE cares more about being popular with mainstream audiences than focusing on strong storylines and real wrestling. WWE has always brought in celebrities like Logan Paul, and Bad Bunny, but some fans think the newer celebrity appearances dont really add much to the show. Therefore, well have to see if WWE will eventually stop relying on celebrities entirely.
