European Tour CEO Guy Kinnings, Catalan Minister of the Presidency Albert Dalmau, President of the Higher Council of Sports Jos Manuel Rodrguez Uribes, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation Juan Guerrero-Burgos, Director General of Turisme de Barcelona Mateu Hernndez, President of the Girona Provincial Council Miquel Noguer, and a cheering host, Camiral owner Denis O'Brien, expressed their joy and excitement at Camiral's selection as the venue. They all shared a common goal: to organize the best Ryder Cup in history.
Pau Gasol, chef Joan Roca, Berni lvarez, businesswoman Cristina Cabaas, and visual artist Ldia Masllorens, as ambassadors of the competition, were also present at the event to share their experiences. After an introductory video for the event, European Tour CEO Guy Kinnings took the floor. "The Ryder Cup has grown since 1997 to become one of the biggest events in sport," he said. "The Ryder Cup will bring great benefits, but it requires commitments. These have been made by a large number of public and private sponsors. Thank you to all the authorities and all the organizations involved. We have public and private support for a global event watched by billions of people around the world," he reflected.
Kinnings explained one of the key reasons for coming to Catalonia. "Spain has had great players. This is a celebration of Spanish golf. I want to thank the president of the RFEG (Regional Federation of Spanish Golf) and I want to pay tribute to the previous president, Gonzaga, who was instrumental in bringing the Ryder Cup back," he stated. Work on the course design will begin in the short term, with the goal of building a solid Ryder Cup that will popularize golf. "We've never been as popular a sport as we are now. We're growing all over the world," he said.
From a distance, the great figure Txema Olazbal spoke in a video, with a moving recollection. "The fact that the Cup is returning to Spain for the second time fills us with pride. It's an example of what Spanish players have given to the Cup," he emphasized the important role of Spanish golfers. Not one of them could be missing.
