Brad Gilbert took to X to shut down "a fake news" surrounding Jannik Sinner ahead of the US Open as Coco Gauff's former coach says it is absolutely not true that Darren Cahill wouldn't be a part of the Italian's team at Flushing Meadows.

Earlier this week, Italian paper la Repubblica issued a report, claiming that coach Cahill wouldn't travel with Sinner to New York in late August. The same report added that Simone Vagnozzi would be in the role of the Italian tennis star's main coach at the US Open.

Gilbert, who coached Gauff for more than a year between 2023 and 2024, has a good relationship with Cahill. And after he noticed an X post posting about the la Repubblica piece, he bluntly wrote: "For the record, This is completely fake news."

Considering how Gilbert confidently dismissed the report as fake, one could think that he personally reached out to the Australian coach to ask him about whether the report was true and got his answer.

What will happen with Sinner and Cahill beyond 2025?

As you all probably know, Sinner announced in early 2025 that Cahill would depart his team after this season. But their partnership continues to be a major success as the Italian made all three Grand Slam finals and won two Slams to improve to four Slams in his collection.

After capturing his maiden Wimbledon crown, Sinner joked that the 59-year-oldhad to stay with him even beyond 2025.

It depends on whether I want to tell the truth or not. We had a bet before the final. I told him, If I win tomorrow, I can decide whether you stay until the end of the year or not. Now the choice is mine!" the 23-year-old joked two weeks ago at Wimbledon.
