AJ Lee has admitted that she really misses wrestling in general, especially because of her wonderful fans.
While speaking at San Diego Comic Con, AJ Lee was asked whether she misses being back in the ring, particularly the fan interaction and the physical side of wrestling. She explained that those are two very different things for her.
When it comes to fan connection, AJ sees her supporters as an extension of her family. Her mission throughout her public life has been to help people feel less alone and to show that being a wonderful weirdo or an underdog is something to be proud of. She believes the things people often feel insecure about can turn out to be their greatest strengths.
That philosophy has guided her journey, and over the past decade, the fans who have stuck with her have played a major role in reinforcing it. She has seen many of them grow up, pursue careers in wrestling, or even enter the mental health field and its something she finds incredibly meaningful. These fans remain very close to her heart.
AJ Lee admitted that she misses the direct connection with her fans and seeing them regularly. Even when she attends mental health conferences now, wrestling fans still show up to support her, which she finds heartwarming and beautiful.
As for the physical aspect of wrestling, she said she was initially scared when she took on the role in Heels, as it marked her first time wrestling in eight years. However, her body adapted quickly and she compared the experience to riding a bike, although a painful one. Despite the soreness, she genuinely enjoyed being physical again.
AJ Lee hasnt competed inside the squared circle since 2015 and for the last decade, fanshave been hoping for her return for a long time. While WWE fully supports the idea of AJ Lee returning to the company, theres no indication she will ever return to the ring again, so well have to see if she does return to WWE somewhere down the line.
What do you think about AJ Lees heartfelt comments on missing wrestling and her fans? Do you believe she should return to the ring, even for one last match? Sound off in the comments.
