Hulk Hogans final days were far more serious than many fans realized.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletters Dave Meltzer, the wrestling legend had been dealing with major health complications following neck surgery on May 14. He was reportedly intubated, experiencing renal failure, fluid overload, and suffering from severe COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).
Hogan had initially been treated at Tampa General Hospital, but when doctors determined there wasnt much left they could do, he was sent home. One source close to the situation told Meltzer, Bubba pretty much had legit info the whole time. Basically, what happened with Hulk was they took him out of the hospital and made a hospital in his house as there wasnt much left they could do.
In the final week of his life, Hogans condition worsened. He was no longer able to speak, and while one person close to him said he wasnt quite as bad off as some were claiming, they also admitted it was much worse than what was being shared publicly.
Just weeks before his death, Hogans wife Sky had spoken out to shut down rumors that he was in a coma, saying his heart was strong and that he was simply recovering from surgery. But behind the scenes, things had become dire.
On Thursday morning, emergency responders were called to Hogans Clearwater, Florida home for what was described as a cardiac arrest. EMTs and police arrived on the scene, and Hogan was taken from the house on a stretcher. He was later pronounced dead at 71.
Hogan, whose legacy shaped generations of wrestling fans and helped take WWE global, spent his final moments surrounded by family in a quiet battle far removed from the spotlight he once owned.
