Britt Bakers absence from AEW programming might be reaching a make-or-break momentespecially with AEW heading to her hometown of Pittsburgh.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on Bakers status after AEW announced its September 24 episode of Dynamite will take place at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh. Meltzer made it clear that if shes not on that show, it could be the end of the line.
The timing is especially noteworthy given the current state of AEWs womens division. Injuries have sidelined key players like Jamie Hayter and Thunder Rosa, theoretically opening up opportunities for Baker to return. Yet despite that, Baker remains off television.
Speculation about her AEW future has swirled for months, with rumors suggesting she was looking to exit the company. However, earlier reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter pushed back against that narrative, noting that the belief internally is that she will be back in the mix eventually.
Tony Khan also addressed the situation during the AEW All In media call. He stated that Baker had never talked to me about leaving and confirmed shes still very much on the companys radar. According to Khan, AEW simply rotates talent due to limited spots and will bring her back when the time is right.
Bakers last match aired in 2024 in a win over Penelope Ford, and shes been off TV since. Sources suggest that due to time missed with injury, her AEW contract could be extended into 2027but fans are still waiting for signs of her return.
With Dynamite landing in her backyard and top names in the division out of action, all eyes are on AEW to see whether the company pulls the trigger on Bakeror lets her fade out completely.
