Eddy Thorpe has now claimed that Shawn Michaels dodged meeting him before he got a call for his WWE release.
While speaking toWrasslerap, Eddy Thorpe revealed what WWEs response was to him asking for his release. It all started when he had a breakdown one Thursday night. He was supposed to wrestle at a live show that Saturday, but he messaged Shawn Michaels to say he wasnt going. He told Shawn he wasnt in a good place and couldnt talk yet, but that the conversation was important.
Shawn asked, So youre not going? Did you tell anyone else? Eddy replied, No, youre the first person I told. He asked if they could talk soon, even though he knew the next few days would be busy for WWE. In his mind, he was done; he didnt want to be Eddy Thorpe anymore.
Not long after that, medical staff called Eddy Thorpe for a wellness check. Thorpe was surprised, but he understood since it was likely protocol because he said some serious things.
Thorpe told them he really needed to talk to Shawn Michaels, but he wanted to wait until he felt ready so he could explain things clearly. He didnt want to blame anyone; he just wanted to express how he felt. It wasnt just about wrestling; it was deeper than that.
On Friday, Eddy told Shawn Michaels again that he wasnt going to show up. Michaels said it wasnt the right time to talk and told him to take care of himself first. He said they could talk on Tuesday. Then, Eddy got another wellness check.
On Wednesday, just before going to the gym, he got another call from medical. The doctor asked how he was feeling. Eddy said he felt okay but would feel better after talking to Shawn.
An hour later, he got a text from Shawn Michaels asking, Any update on how youre feeling? Eddy was upset that Shawn didnt say something like, Are you okay? or I hope youre doing alright.
Eddy told him again, Ill feel better after we talk. But Shawn replied that theyd have to wait until Monday, because he was booked for a Battle Royal on Tuesday. That meant waiting five more days, and Eddy couldnt handle that; he said he couldnt live like that for another week. So he told Shawn Michaels he wanted to leave WWE. Shawn said okay and said hed start the process and Eddy thanked him.
Later that Friday, Dakota Kai got a call about her release, and Eddy got his own call 30 minutes after. He said he wasnt trying to leave Shawn Michaels hanging before the Orlando event. That event had 60 young wrestlers who needed reps, and he knew he wasnt one of Shawns guys anymore. But part of him believed that Shawn Michaels wasnt going to talk to him.
This comes after Eddy Thorpe also revealed why he asked for his WWE release in the first place, which came down to how stereotypical his character was and more things. Regardless, Thorpe has moved on from the situation and now well have to see whats next in store for him.
