WWE almost brought back the Diva Searchbut it never made it past the casting phase.
In a surprising revelation, NXT interviewer Kelly Kincaid took to Twitter and shared that she reached the final round of auditions for what was shaping up to be a reboot of the WWE Diva Search. While the project never happened, it still changed her life.
The Diva Search, which ran from 2003 to 2007, was a controversial talent competition that prioritized sex appeal over wrestling skill. It introduced fans to future WWE stars like Ashley Massaro, Layla, and Eve Torresthough it eventually got axed due to backlash over its presentation of women.
Kincaid, who joined WWE in 2022 following a short stint in Ring of Honor, indirectly benefited from WWEs scrapped revival. While the company may have cooled on the Diva Search concept, it still brought new faces into the foldand Kincaids on-screen presence has since become a staple of NXT broadcasts.
With WWE now focused on showcasing its womens division through actual wrestling and not beauty contests, the idea of a Diva Search comeback seems out of step with todays product. For many fans, pulling the plug on the project mightve been WWEs smartest move.
