AEW All In: Texas didnt just shake up title implicationsit marked the official end of The Young Bucks run as on-screen authority figures. Now, a new backstage report sheds light on why AEW made the call to pull the plug on Matt and Nick Jacksons Executive Vice President storyline.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW designed the tag team match against Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay specifically to wrap up The Bucks run in management. The reasoning was simple: The feeling was it had run its course and it was time to get them back to being a great wrestling tag team.

There was reportedly another option on the table that wouldve gone in the opposite direction. Meltzer noted AEW also absolutely discussed and considered booking Strickland and Ospreay to lose, which would have banned them from challenging for the AEW World Title for a yeara long-term story with serious stakes. In the end, though, The Bucks insisted on taking the loss themselves.

The result now sets up Swerve Strickland to challenge for the AEW World Championship at any time. Meanwhile, Will Ospreay is expected to be off TV for a while after being written out with an injury angle later that same night.
