Travis Scott lit up WrestleMania 41 when he helped John Cena defeat Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championshipbut since then, the rap star has gone completely off the WWE radar. Now, we finally have some clarity on why he vanished.
According to a new update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had originally been considering a major celebrity tag team match involving Scott and Cena, stemming from their angle at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. But those plans quietly fell apartand now we know why.
Meltzer reports that the internal reaction in WWE when asked about the rappers status was less than optimistic:
That sentiment matches what WrestleVotes previously posted when a fan asked why Scott had vanished after WrestleMania. The insider account bluntly said:
Behind the scenes, its been said Scott skipped several key training sessions, including preparation for a planned appearance at WWE Money in the Bank. His lack of discipline reportedly became a headache for those trying to incorporate him into John Cenas retirement storyline.
What was supposed to be a landmark crossover moment is now looking like a one-and-done cameo. WWE hasnt mentioned Scott since WrestleMania, and the slow-burning frustration behind closed doors suggests they may be done trying to make it work.
