Sheamus is all about putting on bangers after bangers and putting it all on the line in the ring. Thats what happened during the June 30th edition of Raw in his match against Rusev but some people claimed the match had no story. Unsurprisingly, Sheamus has now ripped into those people who made such a claim.
While speaking on Cheap Heat Live, Sheamus fired back at fans and so-called experts online who claimed his match with Rusev on Raw had no story. He said the real story was in the ring itself.
Sheamus said he and Rusev knew exactly what they were doing and made sure to leave everything they had out there. He pointed out that he doesnt book the show or write the storylines, so as a WWE star, all he can do is make the most of what hes given.
Sheamus explained that even the promos they were handed, like mentioning the League of Nations, were just part of it. He brought up Rusev leaving for AEW and vanishing from WWE because that was real life. Rusev also targeted his neck, which tied into real events as well.
At the end of the day, Sheamus said all you can do is take what youre given and make it the best it can be. They had three segments on Monday and knew it would draw people in, and if it meant beating the hell out of each other, so be it. They love wrestling, have pride in their work, and always want to steal the show and Sheamus believes thats exactly what they did.
For Sheamus, the story was told through their fight in the ring. Unlike others who get long promos at the start or middle of Raw every week, he didnt need that. He and Rusev went out, tore into each other, wore their hearts on their sleeves and showed how much passion they have for what they do.
In the end, Sheamus feels that the heart, toughness, and realness he and Rusev showed in their match told a better story than any scripted promo ever could. For the Celtic Warrior, thats all that really matters.
