Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Claudio Castagnoli has been absent from TV over the past week. He stated that it isnt due to an injury, anything related to WWE mentioning his name, or any kind of business issue. Theres nothing negative behind it; he was simply given some time off.
This comes after Tony Khan announced thatBeast Mortos was replacing Claudio Castagnoliin the 12-man tag team match, where he teamed up with the Death Riders and the Young Bucks at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico went live from Arena Mexico. Castagnoli was also noticeably absent from the June 25th edition of AEW Dynamite.
Therefore, Claudio Castagnolis time away from AEW is simply a short, well-earned break. Theres no injury or backstage issue behind it, so fans can expect the Swiss Superman to return soon and get back to doing what he does best in the ring and be an absolute menace as part of the Death Riders.
